The temperature drops in winter and the light time is short, which has a great impact on the egg production of chickens.
So how can chicken farmers improve the egg production rate of laying hens in winter? Retech believes that in order to increase the laying rate of laying hens in winter, the following eight points must be done:
Eight points to improve the egg production rate of laying hens:
1. Eliminate low-yielding chickens
In order to ensure the health of the flock and the higher egg production rate, before the arrival of the cold season, the discontinued chickens, low-yielding chickens, weak chickens, disabled chickens, and chickens with serious vices should be eliminated in time.
Leaving the laying hens with good production performance, robust body and normal egg production to ensure a high uniformity of the flock, thereby reducing the feed-to-egg ratio, increasing the egg production rate and reducing the feeding cost.
2. Prevent cold and moisturizing
The suitable environmental temperature for egg laying is 8-24 ℃, but the temperature in winter is obviously low, especially the activity of caged chickens is small, and the impact is more serious.
Therefore, in winter, repair chicken cages, install door and window glass, and install doors with thermal insulation curtains. A series of measures such as covering the chicken coop with 10 cm thick shavings or hay can play a role in cooling and moisturizing.
3. Increase the light
Reasonable light stimulation is particularly important for chicken egg production. Adult laying hens can only give full play to their normal egg production level when the sunshine time is 15-16 hours, but the sunshine time in winter is far from enough, so artificial light is needed.
